Kate Jones
Support Services Officer
As Support Services Officer, I provide support to Melaleuca’s CEO. Prior to coming on board, I worked in the UK as a Support Worker, helping students with disabilities to gain equal access to education. In this role, I offered academic and logistical support to university students to help break down any barriers to learning they might experience due to their disability.
When I moved to Australia, I became an English language teacher and worked closely with international cohorts at Navitas at Charles Darwin University until its closure. I first became involved with Melaleuca when I started providing free English classes for students who were affected by Covid-19. This led to my providing administrative support, which then resulted in my current role as Executive Assistant.
I love meeting people from different walks of life and sharing stories about our culture and home countries. When I’m not working, I volunteer at Don Dale Youth Detention Centre with the Red Cross.
In the future, I hope to launch a charity to support homeless people in my home town.
