William Kelly

Project Officer, Learning & Development

As a Project Officer, I provide orientation sessions to our clients within the Humanitarian Settlement Program, during their initial settlement period. I enjoy working within the humanitarian space and have been doing so for many years.

Before joining Melaleuca, I worked at Charles Darwin University for over 20 years as an English and additional language lecturer in the Adult Migrant English Program, teaching a range of people, including refugee and humanitarian arrivals. I also loved working with people who were settling in Australia from many different countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. It was wonderful to be teaching them language skills, while simultaneously learning from them.

One of my favourite things in life is to try to see the diversity in all things. I believe diversity creates variety, which results in a more sustainable, healthy and interesting world.

In my spare time, I’m involved in a social football collective that successfully competes in the Darwin Football NT over 35s competition. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to keep fit, make friends and take part in the community.
If I could have one dream come true, it would be a peaceful, sustainable planet, so my children can enjoy their lives.
