For the carer
“Are you a carer of a family or friend? You may be a carer and not even know it…”
A carer is someone who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who have a disability, mental illness, chronic health condition, terminal illness, alcohol or other drug issues, or who are frail and elderly.
A carer may do a lot to help and support any of the daily activities of living for the person being cared for. This may include physical and personal care such as getting dressed, lifting, showering, toileting, feeding, or providing transport.
Carers are often also helping with giving medications, providing emotional and social support, helping to organize and attend appointments, doing banking, and dealing with any emergencies.
