On 6 August 2025, history was made with the launch of Refugee Legal NT — the Northern Territory’s first independent, specialist community legal centre for people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants. Hosted by Melaleuca Australia on Larrakia Country, the launch marked the culmination of a three-year collaboration with Refugee Legal and drew leaders, dignitaries, advocates and community members from across the NT and beyond. Co-located at Melaleuca’s office in Darwin, the service now provides free legal support in protection visas, family reunion and migration matters, embedded within a holistic ecosystem of settlement and wellbeing programs.
